New Visitor Restrictions in Effect

The.Provincial Medical Officer of Health had directed public acute care hospitals in Ontario, including Windsor Regional Hospital, as a part of our collective ongoing efforts to protect the public, patients and our staff from potential transmission of the COVID-19 virus, to restrict the number of visitors allowed per patient starting today March 20, 2020.
Effective immediately, there will be ONLY ONE (1) visitor per patient at any time:
- paediatric patients in ER or as in-patient/out-patient
- mom giving birth
- Cancer Centre patient
- critical care/Neonatal Intensive Care
- palliative patients in ER or as in-patient
- patient having surgery (not post surgery unless in critical care/palliative)
NO OTHER VISITORS TO WILL BE PERMITTED.
NO VISITORS UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE WILL BE PERMITTED.
We ask that families and friends to do their best to designate ONE individual to be the ONE visitor per patient throughout that patient's stay in hospital. We would also ask visitors try to limit visitation to 11am to 8pm.
You CANNOT visit if you have travelled outside of Canada over the past 14 days, or have been in contact with someone who has, and/or you are feeling ill yourself.
As stated by the Provincial Medical Officer of Health we ask that families keep in contact with their loved one via the telephone or via WRH's e-card service.
"These measures are being implemented as part of the Province's best efforts to limit the potential transmission of the COVID-19 virus from person to person," said David Musyj, President and CEO, Windsor Regional Hospital. "They are taking effect across the whole Province to protect you, and your loved ones, whether they are our patients, our visitors, or our staff. As we have communicated previously, if you are ill with a respiratory infection, DO NOT come to the hospital where you may risk transmitting this virus to another individual. If you are unsure whether you have contracted the COVID-19 virus, contact your primary care provider, medical clinic or the Windsor-Essex Public Health Unit 519 258 2146 ext. 1420, or call Telehealth at 1-866-797-0000 (24 hours, seven days a week)."

Windsor Regional Hospital will continue to update the public regarding any changes to policies and procedures until the provincial declaration of an emergency has been lifted by the Province of Ontario.
