Volunteer Services

Volunteering at Windsor Regional Hospital

Volunteers are an integral part of the Windsor Regional Hospital team. Thank you for your interest in joining our team of enthusiastic and devoted volunteers, students, and staff members. WRH is currently accepting applications for new volunteers. Please review placement choices before completing an application.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers participate in a variety of areas at the Metropolitan and Ouellette campuses. Specific hours for each assignment vary according to the needs of each department/program.

Met Campus Placement Choices

Ambulatory Clinics	Greet visitors, give directions, transport patients, and perform clerical tasks. Assist staff, patients, and families before and after treatments.
Clerical Support	Provide non-medical clerical support in various hospital areas; computer skills required.
Emergency Room	Assist staff with various duties as required, and replenish supplies. Provide support to patients and families in the waiting room.
Gift Shop	Assist with sales, cashier responsibilities, and restocking merchandise.
Help Desk Navigators	Greet visitors, give directions, make deliveries, and transport patients
Nevada & 50/50 Ticket Sales	Assist by selling tickets to help purchase medical equipment for the hospital.
OR Patient Liaison	Facilitate communication between doctors, staff, and waiting families. Provide support to families.
Paediatric Services	Assist the Child Life Specialist with diversional and play activities for children.
Special Events/Activities	Assist with hospital fundraising events and activities.

Ouellette Campus Placement Choices

Teen Volunteering Activities

Teen volunteers (15 years and younger) may participate in the following services:

We are not currently accepting donated magazines due to current COVID-19 restrictions.
Special events - The hospital hosts and participates in a variety of fundraising events outside the hospital facilities. Teens sign up to assist with events as needed.

Cap Knitting for Newborns

Warming Cap for Newborn Babies Patterns

Volunteers in the program knit caps for newborn babies. The cap is quick and simple to make so you can use up odds and ends that you may already have. Pink and blue are traditional, but any colour of the baby yarn is appreciated. To make the Pattern more interesting, you may add stripes, fancy stitches, or Fair Isle designs.

Do not add a pom-pom, ribbons, or strings.
Use baby yarns such as Bernat Softee Baby; TLC Baby Yarn or any other fine baby yarn.
Use 4 mm, 3mm, or 2.5 mm needles depending on your tension.
