STRATEGIC PLAN
Windsor Regional Hospital's Strategic Plan serves as a fundamental guide to decision-making and offers a clear direction on how the hospital will fulfill its Vision and Mission while living its Values.
Strategic planning is an organization's process of defining its strategy, or direction, and making decisions on allocating its resources to pursue this strategy.
In 2024, WRH revisited and revised our corporate Strategic Plan for 2025-2029.
As part of the Windsor Regional Hospital Strategic Planning process we had a cross-section of employees, volunteers, patients, and professional staff come together to develop the plan, and also included feedback from patients/families and community members on what was important to them and what should be the direction for Windsor Regional Hospital.
The Strategic Planning process includes examining our current Vision, Mission, and Values. Our Vision of providing "Outstanding Care...No Exceptions!" is what we live and breathe on a daily basis in everything we do. A Vision is an aspirational description of what an organization would like to achieve or accomplish in the mid-term or long-term future. It is intended to serve as a clear guide for choosing current and future courses of action. Our Vision is as important now as it's ever been, and remains the same.
A Mission is a written declaration of an organization's core purpose and focus. A mission is different from a vision in that the former is the cause and the latter is the effect; a mission is something to be accomplished whereas a vision is something to be pursued for that accomplishment. As with our previous plan our Mission is to “Provide quality person-centred health care services to our community.”
Our Corporate Values are centered around an acronym CARE: C=Compassionate, A=Accountable, R=Respectful, and E=Exceptional Values are important and are lasting beliefs or ideals shared by a team about what is good or bad and desirable or undesirable. Values have a major influence on a person's behaviour and attitude and serve as broad guidelines in all situations.
WRH also values, recognizes and respects our community's history:
We respectfully acknowledge that the Windsor Regional Hospital occupies the traditional, ancestral, and contemporary lands of the Niswi Ishkodewan Anishinaabeg: The Three Fires Confederacy (Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi). We acknowledge the land and the surrounding waters for sustaining us and we are committed to protecting and restoring these lands and waters from environmental degradation.
As an organization, when we set out to achieve something, it should align with the organization’s Strategic Plan. If it does not, consideration is needed to determine if it is a focus that we need to have as an organization – will it contribute to the Vision and Mission of WRH? We also need to OPERATIONALIZE our Strategic Directions and Initiatives. Unique programs at WRH have each developed Operational Plans which identify ways in which the program will contribute to the achievement of the Strategic Plan. These plans build the road map for daily operations and continual improvement, in order to improve and grow the services that are provided to the community.
All the links above program-specific Operational Plans which we are working on to contribute to the achievement of our 2025-2029 Strategic Plan. Please take some time to read details about your Program and look at others. You will notice we are all using the same road map to get to the intended destination and outcome.
A Strategic Plan is always intended to be a living and breathing document that must adapt to the needs of the people and community we serve, which is why we will provide continual updates to these plans, while making any necessary adjustments to align with those needs.
