A pair of long-time staples in the Windsor-Essex medical community are planting the seed for a new initiative aimed at putting the region on the world stage when it comes to health care research.

Dr. Fouad Tayfour and Dr. Barry Emara have come forward with a $250,000 donation which will see the launch of the ‘Tayfour-Emara Research & Education Fund’.

With a new acute care hospital just over the horizon, the fund will position Windsor-Essex as a leader in education, training and research for many years to come.

“Leadership in health care requires more than excellence in clinical care alone,” says Dr. Tayfour, “Our donation will provide essential funding to kick start research projects and support the next generation of medical leaders. Windsor-Essex deserves to have first-class specialists right here in our community.”

"The Windsor-Essex region is home to world-class experts in almost every medical specialty,” says Dr. Emara, “This initiative will attract top clinicians to conduct cutting-edge research in our community which will make a real difference in the lives of our patients."

This newly established fund will help put a renewed focus on research and training leading to better patient care while also attracting the next generation of physicians and healthcare providers to the region.

“This timely philanthropic investment will be vital to encouraging research and innovation and taking the first step to building a foundation towards becoming a regional academic health sciences centre,” says Chief of Staff and Vice President of Medical Affairs Dr. Wassim Saad, “Advancements like these are strongly needed to support growth and innovation.”
