Retired Anesthesia Assistant Wins National Award

9-6-2022

Dan Broderick

A big congratulations is going out to retired Certified Clinical Anesthesia Assistant Dan Broderick.

Broderick has been awarded the 2022 Award for Professional Achievement in Anesthesia Assistant Practice from the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists.

This national award recognizes CCAAs who have made a significant contribution to anesthesia assistance practice while inspiring others to do the same.

“I am humbled and surprised,” says Broderick, “Thank you to my Anesthesia Assistant coworkers who sent letters to nominate me. We are never alone in our professional journey and we are never alone in our accomplishments!”

After a career spanning nearly 40 years, Broderick recently retired in February 2022, but not before making a major impact on Windsor Regional Hospital’s operations.

In 1997, Broderick began working at Met Campus as a Respiratory Therapist before making the move to the Anesthesia Department in 2001.

He then graduated from the Anesthesia Assistant Program at Thompson Rivers University in 2010 before going on to help spearhead the launch of the Anesthesia Assistant Program at Windsor Regional Hospital in 2016 as a Certified Clinical Anesthesia Assistant.

According to a release from the CSRT, Broderick is being recognized for his “wide-ranging involvement in activities that advance the professional practice of respiratory therapists,” while exhibiting a high level of dedication to his profession.

“I accept this award, humbled at this honour, on behalf of the entire team that I worked with for 21 years in the OR at Met Campus.”

Broderick received his award during the CSRT’s Annual General Meeting on June 8, 2022.

Congratulations Dan!
