A long-time champion for Windsor Regional Hospital is being honoured for her years of dedication to making the Windsor-Essex community a better place.

Gisèle Séguin will be ending her 20-year tenure as the outgoing Director of the Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation this December, but not before receiving the 2022 Outstanding Fundraising Professional award from the Association for Fundraising Professionals.

"I am honored to accept the award! Windsor and Essex County have so many generous individuals and organizations and it has been an absolute privilege to get to know many of them and to help facilitate their philanthropy," says Seguin. "I have been fortunate to work with a great team at Windsor Regional Hospital and Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation for the last 20 years and am grateful to have had the opportunity to work towards filling their very important mission for our community."

Each year, AFP honours an outstanding individual fundraising professional working for a non-profit, charitable organization who goes above and beyond the call of duty - and Seguin has done just that!

Over the past two decades, she has led the charge in raising $2-million to $3-milion annually in support of lifesaving medical equipment for the region while spearheading several Foundation programs including the Direct Mail, Legacy, and Lottery programs. Under her leadership, the annual fundraiser 'Hats On For Healthcare' was created which has become one of the Foundation's signature events.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Seguin helped pivot WRHF's entire fundraising strategy despite the majority of community events being canceled. She was also quick on her feet when the community began organizing mass drop-offs of PPE and meals for staff while also securing much-needed funds to help get the St. Clair College Field Hospital up and running with the necessary equipment and comfort items for patients.

"Gisèle has been at the helm of Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation for close to 20 years and I am thrilled she is being recognized for her outstanding leadership during her tenure," says Foundation incoming Executive Director Cristina Naccarato. "Gisèle leaves behind a lasting legacy that I am proud to be building off of as I begin my new role as Executive Director."

Seguin's passion for philanthropy extends beyond the workplace as well. She volunteers and contributes to a number of outside organizations including being the immediate past President of the Rotary Club of Windsor-Roseland. Seguin also sits on the board of the University of Windsor's Alumni Association as well as the provincial Board for Collège Boréal.

Prior to joining the WRHF, Seguin was Executive Director of Big Brothers of Windsor and Essex County and Director of the St. Clair College Foundation.

She will receive the 2022 Outstanding Fundraising Professional award at the 21st annual AFP - Canada South National Philanthropy Day Awards being held in Windsor on November 15.

Join us in congratulating Gisèle and wishing her the best in her upcoming retirement!
