Health & Welfare Benefits

Extended Health Care

This plan provides partial reimbursement for supplementary health services such as: prescription drugs, hospital, paramedical services, medical equipment, vision care, out of province medical coverage, etc..

Dental

This plan provides reimbursement of basic, restorative, and orthodontic services. Plan coverage will vary, subject to collective agreement eligibility criteria.

Life Insurance

Life insurance benefits are offered through the hospital for various collective agreements. Supplementary life and dependent life insurance are also available at group rates.

Sickness and Disability

Sick Leave

Short term sick leave benefits are provided in the event of non-occupational illness or injury. Entitlements vary depending on the individual collective agreement.

Long-Term Disability Insurance

Continuing income is provided in the event of total disability for various full time and individual collective agreements.

Pension Plan

The Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (H.O.O.P.P.) is one of the largest and most respected pension plans in the country. It is a defined benefit pension plan, which provides members with a lifetime retirement income, based on a formula, which takes into account a member's earnings history and length of service in the plan, in accordance with their plan details.

It is mandatory for full-time employees of Windsor Regional Hospital to join the H.O.O.P.P. pension plan upon hire. All other employee groups have the option to join H.O.O.P.P. For more information regarding the pension plan, please see H.O.O.P.P’s website: www.hoopp.com

Pregnancy/Parental Leave

Unpaid pregnancy/parental leave will be granted for a period of up to a maximum of 18 months/78 weeks (employment status requirements apply). An employee on pregnancy/parental leave who is in receipt of Employment Insurance benefits may be paid a supplemental benefit. The amount of the supplemental benefit, the length of the leave and any other allowances during such leave are outlined in the applicable collective agreements.

Vacation and Statutory Holidays

Vacation entitlement varies depending on individual collective agreements.

12 paid statutory holidays per year per the collective agreement(s).

Employee Assistance Program

An off-site, confidential, voluntary, short-term counselling program is provided for employees to deal with a range of personal, family, and workplace concerns.

Windsor Regional Hospital recognizes the important role of staff (employees, physicians and associates) in fulfilling its mission of providing ‘Outstanding Care - No Exceptions’. This program recognizes individual efforts in providing excellent service. Employees may be nominated by fellow employees, managers, visitors and patients. An Honour Roll is published monthly highlighting all recipients.

Genius Lab

Windsor Regional Hospital’s Genius Lab allows staff to submit suggestions for improvement in any process or department that will increase efficiency, cost savings, or patient satisfaction.

Healthy Lifestyles Program

Healthy Lifestyle is a coordination of information and programs designed to promote, educate and encourage healthy lifestyle choices of Windsor Regional Hospital staff, volunteers, physicians and retirees. Windsor Regional recognizes the significance of regular physical activity and the demands of today’s busy lifestyles. We encourage the development of` overall physical and mental well-being.

We have on-site gym facilities at each campus. In addition, we have onsite exercise programs: pilates, bootcamp, strength & tone, yoga, zumba, and weight watchers that are offered at both Metropolitan and Tayfour campuses.
There is a section of the Healthy Lifestyle website dedicated to providing information that can be used both at work and at home. We're committed to helping keep our families healthy, active, and safe!

Professional Development

At Windsor Regional Hospital we recognize the importance of professional growth and personal development. The Tuition Assistance program provides financial assistance for staff who are completing continuing education programs and/or for support of Human Resources initiatives that may require individuals to complete identified course requirements (eligibility requirements apply per hospital policy). Acceptance into this program is subject to approval. In addition, employees have access to innovative internal learning opportunities offered in-class, e-learning, committee work, mentoring programs and lunch and learns.
