Hats On For Healthcare
Keep Calm An Wear A Hat!
Hats On For Healthcare, a fundraising event benefitting the Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation returns for its 11th year on March 4th.
The fun and interactive event has raised $350,000 by simply asking everyone to wear a hat and pay a 'toonie' for the opportunity. Many 'toonies' have been donated from a vast array of organizations and businesses - Click here to view the list of 2020 Participants.
This year, Hats On For Healthcare is supporting our Critical Care program. The program that operates Intensive Care units at both campuses, as well as a Cardiac Care unit, requires a variety of equipment. The focus is on obtaining an MRI compatible ventilator, a transport ventilator and a Prismaflex that allows for renal dialysis while in the unit.
The Critical Care program at Windsor Regional Hospital has 49 dedicated critical care beds and serves approximately 3800 patients per year.
People requiring a stay in the Critical Care unit are the sickest patients in the hospital. These patients need around the clock intensive monitoring with high-tech equipment and a highly-skilled, diverse team of healthcare professionals. The funds raised by the "Hats-on-for-Healthcare" campaign will go to purchasing vital equipment for the Critical Care program. This equipment will help critically ill patients to get life-saving treatments, transport for necessary tests, and even at times travel to a higher level of care.
"There is something about wearing a hat that brings a smile to everyone's face. We wanted to do something that allowed everyone in the community to participate and support our local Hospital. We could not be more pleased with the community's response," stated Elaine Snaden, Chair Hats On For Healthcare.
