EVENT DETAILS:
Sikh Heritage Month
Sikh Heritage Month recognizes the many past and current contributions of the Sikh community to Canada.
Sikhs arrived in Canada in the late 19th century and were integral to many aspects of this country’s growth, including and not limited to politics, sciences, arts, business and sports. There are over 500,000 Sikhs living across the country, with at least 2,740 (according to the 2021 Census) in Windsor-Essex.
The values of equality, selflessness, openness and compassion are the core principles of Sikhism, and these values will be highlighted during Vaisakhi later this month.
