EVENT DETAILS:

Vaisakhi (Sikh) (Hindu)

Vaisakhi is the most important Sikh holiday. It commemorates the sacrifice of five devotees in 1699 who gave their lives to protect the Sikh community. This is the year Sikhism was born as a collective faith. It emphasizes the need to prevent injustice against yourself or against anyone else. The date falls on first day of the Vaisakh month in the Nanakshahi calendar, which follows a solar calendar. Vaisakhi is also a Hindu harvest festival in the Punjab province of northern India. It is a joyous holiday and time for celebration with community and family.
