EVENT DETAILS:
Red Dress Day
Red Dress Day is held on May 5 to draw attention to the more than 1,000 Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) in Canada. The day was inspired by the work of Métis artist Jaime Black, which then led to the REDress Project.
The day involves community events, displays of red dresses to honour and symbolize the lost lives of Indigenous women to violence, marches, memorials and walks.
