EVENT DETAILS:
National Indigenous History Month
June is National Indigenous History Month. This month is an opportunity to share stories, achievements, and the resilience of First Nations, Inuit, Metis, and Urban Indigenous peoples who are the original inhabitants of this land.
This month is a great opportunity for non-Indigenous people to learn more about Indigenous peoples in Windsor-Essex as well as the country. Learn more through Indigenous storytelling, reading books by Indigenous authors, and watching movies or listening to music by Indigenous artists.
There are weekly themes to this month:
• June 1 to 9: Environment, traditional knowledge, and territory
• June 10 to 16: Children and youth
• June 17 to 23: Languages, cultures and arts
• June 24 to 30: Women, girls and 2SLGBTQI+ people
