Dr. Sheri Bergeron is being recognized for her dedication to the field of palliative medicine in Windsor-Essex.
Dr. Bergeron, a WRH physician with the Department of Family Medicine and Palliative Medicine and Medical Director for The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County, has been awarded Hospice Palliative Care Ontario’s Dr. S. Lawrence Librach Award for Palliative Medicine in the Community.
“It’s a privilege to be trusted and have the ability to be part of an interdisciplinary team that offers both symptom relief and sense of comfort to patients and their families,” says Dr. Bergeron, who is also the National Medical Director for Hospice Palliative Care with Saint Elizabeth Health.
“Our Hospice sends our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Sheri Bergeron. Thank you for all you do for patients and families in our community,” says local Hospice Executive Director Nancy Brockenshire.
The annual award is given to a physician who demonstrates excellence and leadership in palliative care while advancing the field through the mentorship of family physicians.
The award is named after Dr. S. Lawrence Librach - considered a pioneer in the field shaping the Canadian approach to palliative care and palliative medicine over the course of his 35-year career before he passed away in 2013.
