The final fundraising numbers are in for the Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation’s 2022-2023 fiscal year - and it’s safe to say the past 12 months have been a big success.
Despite COVID-19 pandemic pressures, the Foundation was able to raise a whopping $3,514,000 for Windsor Regional Hospital.
At the WRH Annual General Meeting, new Foundation President and Board Chair John Jedlinski presented the hospital with a cheque while giving thanks to the community for its tremendous support.
“We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the community and our donors for believing in the power of philanthropy and doing their part to help ensure our hospital is equipped with the best, state-of-the-art that is not funded by government dollars,” says Jedlinski, “The Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation exists to support the growing needs of our hospital and the allocation of these funds supports every program within our two campuses.”
Over the course of the year the funds went to more than 70 equipment purchases and initiatives in dozens of departments as well as training for staff and programs and equipment to improve the patient experience.
“Whole body cooling equipment for our NICU to help control the body temperature of newly born babies. Endoscopic ultrasound to help manage gastrointestinal cancers,” explains Jedlinski. “These are just two examples of pieces of equipment supported by the Foundation that did not previously exist in Windsor and will now keep patients here at home.”
The Foundation continues to work toward its five year plan which includes support for the Ouellette Campus Cardiac Cath Lab, annual support for the WE-SPARK Health Institute - a collaborative research centre in Windsor combining the efforts of the local healthcare and academic communities - and of course, the future support of the new Windsor-Essex Acute Care Hospital.
“The Foundation looks forward to continuing to strengthen our relationship with the hospital as we work collaboratively in support of this transformational healthcare project for our region,” says Jedlinski.
