Medical Assistance in Dying
End of Life Care Choices in Ontario – MAID
The term Medical Assistance in Dying, also referred to as MAID, describes a procedure in which a patient is given medications to intentionally and safely end their life. Federal law governs who is eligible for Medical Assistance in Dying, and the processes under which a patient can receive it.
It is important to note that individuals must meet all eligibility criteria outlined by the Government of Canada.
